Kim Kardashian robbed at gunpoint in Paris

‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ star Kim Kardashian was in Paris when she robbed at gunpoint by two assailants disguised as police, who stole millions of pounds worth of jewellery. They tied Kardashians up and locked her in the bathroom before escaping on bikes.

Kardashian’s husband, the rapper Kanye West, was on stage at the Meadows Music and Arts Festival in New York at the time of the robbery. He abruptly ended his set, telling fans: “I’m sorry, family emergency. I have to stop the show.”

A Paris police official told the Associated Press that five armed men, who were still at large, stole a jewellery box containing valuables worth €6m (£5.2m) as well as a ring worth €4m. Police said the robbers escaped on bikes.

She was “badly shaken but physically unharmed,” the spokeswoman told The Associated Press, offering no further details.

Colombian people voted against the Peace deal

A landmark peace deal, which was signed by Colombia’s President Juan Manuel Santos and Farc leader Timoleon Jimenez last week, rejected by the Colombian public.

With counting completed from 98% of polling stations, the no vote led with 50.23% to 49.76%, a difference of 61,000 votes.

The signing ceremony, the culmination of four years of negotiations in Havana, was attended by world leaders including US Secretary of State John Kerry, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon and Raul Castro, the President of Cuba.

Santos had been confident of a yes result and said during the campaign that he did not have a plan B and that Colombia would return to war if the no vote won. But the result came as a surprise for many.

English Village set an example by Quietly Cleaning up Its Own Patch

Climate change is one of the defining challenges of the 21st century. But a small village of England, Ashton Hayes teaches the lesson to the rest of country by becoming “Britain’s first carbon-neutral village.”

Frustrated by the lack of strong environmental action by political leaders, 10 years ago, residents of the village decide to take matters into their own hands. Hundreds of residents have banded together to cut greenhouse emissions — they use clotheslines instead of dryers, take fewer flights, install solar panels and glaze windows to better insulate their homes.

The project was started by Garry Charnock, a former journalist who trained as a hydrologist and has lived in the village for about 30 years. He got the idea a little more than a decade ago after attending a lecture about climate change at the Hay Festival, an annual literary gathering in Wales.

“We want to show our children, grandchildren and future generations that we have done our best to stop Ashton Hayes contributing to Global Warming.

So Far, the village has reduced its carbon emissions by 40% but beyond the statistics, the measures have captured the world’s attention. More than 200 towns, from those in Norway to places in Taiwan, have visited or been in touch to find lessons worth taking home.

The effort which started in 2006, reaching its 10th anniversary this year, has led to a 24 percent cut in emissions, according to surveys by a professor of environmental sustainability who lives here.

No politician has been allowed to address the group since. The village has kept the effort separate from party politics, which residents thought would only divide them along ideological lines.

As climate science has become more accepted, and the effects of a warming planet are becoming increasingly clear, Ashton Hayes is a case study for the next phase of battling climate change: getting people to change their habits.

A Slum Resident finds $1,400, return the money to owner rather than keeping it

“Integrity is choosing your thoughts and actions based on values rather than personal gain. “This is what a poverty-stricken man named Joao Rodrigues teaches you.

The Slum Resident named Joao Rodrigues one night was looking for recyclables in the trash, where he found an envelope filled with cash and personal details of the owner onto the envelope. Despite his living conditions, he never thought to keep the money rather he find a payphone to reach the owner and return the envelope.

The Envelope belongs to Bruno Temistocles, who withdrew $1,400 in cash for an upcoming trip to Europe. The money was in Envelope with his personal information written on the front. But 7 year old brother-in-law of the Bruno put the envelope in the trash by mistake.

Since he was on a budget for his trip, Bruno couldn’t afford to give a reward – but he managed to do something better.

“I told a few friends about it and I got Joao a job in a construction field in the neighborhood.”

The slum resident said this was a better reward than cash itself.

But Joao’s fortune didn’t stop with the new job. Today, Gabriel o Pensador, a famous Brazilian singer, had a concert in a nearby city and was touched when he saw the story on TV. So he decided to make a quick fundraiser with his friends and local producers and gathered $3,000. With the cash in hands, he visited the slum and gave Joao the money.

“This man’s character is amazing and I wanted to tell him while looking in his eyes that he deserves this cash”, said the singer.
